Dia de los Muertos

By Nasley Severino

Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico, in particular the Central and South regions, and acknowledged around the world in other cultures. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and help support their spiritual journey. It begins November 1st and ends November 2nd.

The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to celebrate friends and family members who have died, and help support their spiritual journey.  Here at Drewicz Elementary School, instead of celebrating Halloween, since not everyone celebrates Halloween, we celebrated Day Of The Dead instead.

In 5th grade, we made skeleton

bodies out of Q-Tips:

By EMILY DE LEON DIAZ 312

One of the best places to be there are rides, like the Ferris wheel.  There is fried dough so sweet it will make you happy!  Another thing about the Topsfield fair is you get to see the animals like the pigs and cows and many more.  You also get to go to the flower garden and see very cute bunnies. If you go to the TOPSFIELD FAIR you are going to have a great time.

Dia De Los Santos

Dia De Los Santos is a Guatemalan tradition that is like Dia De Los Muertos.   Dia De Los Santos means "Day of the Spirits."  So basically you go to a cemetery and you decorate the grave of someone who passed away in your family. You can leave food for them and the spirits are supposed to eat the food.  In Guatemala there is a big festival and it is very fun.
